PKWARE Offers First Enterprise-Level Security App on Google Play

Extends SecureZIP enterprise mobile security to Android™-powered devices

Milwaukee, WI (May 17, 2012) -   PKWARE, Inc., the industry leader in data-centric security, today announced SecureZIP Reader for the Android™ operating system, an application that secures enterprise and government data on Android-powered devices.  This first-of-its-kind solution allows corporate end-users to securely access data from the Cloud on mobile devices.

The new SecureZIP Reader further extends the PKWARE enterprise security solution to the majority of phones and tablets, namely the Android and iOS® operating systems.  The SecureZIP Solution secures corporate information that end-users send to the Cloud via file-sharing applications, like DropBox®, Box.net® or email, to access on their mobile devices.

With the proliferation of mobile devices, companies are increasingly adopting “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) policies – whereby employees use their personal phones and tablets to access corporate applications and data.  Gartner has projected that by 2014, 90 percent of organizations will support corporate applications on personal devices.  This raises significant security challenges for enterprise IT departments on how to secure and protect corporate data on a wide range of mobile devices.

“Until now, enterprises have been unable to secure corporate data sent to the most popular mobile devices, Android-based or Apple devices, through email or the Cloud,” said V. Miller Newton, Chief Executive Officer for PKWARE. “We are very excited to be the first to bring this new technology to both the Google Play and Apple marketplaces. SecureZIP Reader for Android expands the ability of the enterprise to secure sensitive data on the majority of BYOD and the Cloud.”

SecureZIP Reader is a free application for Android and iOS® devices and is available in the Google Play store here and Apple® iTunes® store here.
