The major obstacles that must be overcome to effectively share data between partners are:

  • Different security format standards
  • Different operating system or hardware platform
  • Different security policies

The use cases below explore each of these obstacles:

Use Case #1: Partner chooses security format

PKWARE customers can use the SecureZIP solution internally and allow their partners to choose their preferred or mandated security format, including OpenPGP. PKWARE customers can count on continued control and compliance regardless of out-of-network formats through PKWARE’s Policy Manager and Contingency Key functionality. This capability allows customers the ability to streamline on their preferred vendor while still meeting business partner requirements.

Use Case #2: Extending policy to a partner network

SecureZIP PartnerLink provides an easy-to-use solution to secure data exchanges outside the corporate perimeter. In short, it is a product that is distributed free of charge to any partner by the originator of the security initiative. The product integrates seamlessly into virtually any environment, mainframe to desktop, mainframe to mainframe, server to server.

Use Case #3 Partner doesn’t use same security strategies – leaving data at risk

SecureZIP PartnerLink is able to offer a comprehensive solution that protects the exchange of information at a file level. The originator who purchases the SecureZIP PartnerLink license freely distributes the application to its partners. The originator is able to control the security process, extending its data security policy to its partners. The partners secure the data exchanged, but the security product costs the partners nothing. Partners can create and send secure data as well as receive, authenticate, and decrypt the information – easily and cost effectively.

SecureZIP encrypts and decrypts files using OpenPGP keys in both the ZIP and OpenPGP formats; it also allows IT Administrators to maintain enterprise control of OpenPGP files through the use of policy controls and a contingency key that ensures recoverability of encrypted data.
