The Challenge ![]() | Need to archive data for 20 years due to regulatory requirements. |
The Need ![]() | Keep the data size to a minimum for transfer and secure the sensitive data before, during, and after transit. |
The Solution ![]() | Install SecureZIP on the server to archive the .ZIP outfile to disk. The archival of the data can be performed on a periodic basis on all files. |
The Result ![]() | An average of 85% compression of the file size results in faster transfer times and reduced
storage space. AES 256-bit encryption with a passphrase during the ZIP process keeps the
data secure. The .ZIP file can then be transferred via FTP or other means to the storage
device or the cloud storage provider for long-term storage. Another advantage, aside from the compression and encryption, is an easy restore process. If only specific files or date ranges need to be retrieved, not the entire library, SecureZIP allows for users to decrypt/extract specific files versus having to restore the entire library. The compression and decryption allows the storage of large amounts of data while preventing unauthorized access to the sensitive data. |
