PKWARE has partnered with Fidelis Security Systems, the leader in next generation data leakage prevention (DLP) solutions, and released a new joint content-aware encryption solution that combines DLP and enterprise encryption. The new solution helps organizations safeguard valuable digital assets and address increasing regulatory compliance requirements for the protection of sensitive information.
The new content-aware encryption solution lets enterprise security and risk professionals set up centralized policy management controls for automatic detection and encryption of sensitive information contained in email messages and email attachments, without negatively impacting end-user usability. It ensures that corporate policies for the encryption of sensitive emails and attached files are enforced as information flows in and out of the corporate network.
In the joint solution, the Fidelis Extrusion Prevention System’s® Fidelis XPS™ Mail appliance analyzes email messages and file attachments as they traverse the corporate network, marking sensitive messages and attachments for automatic downstream encryption by PKWARE’s SecureZIP® encryption platform. The PKWARE/Fidelis enterprise encryption solution has been tested and certified by both companies.
PKWARE has also joined the Fidelis Technology Partnership Program, designed to enable the development of joint solutions that combine Fidelis technology with partners’ technologies in support o customer requirements.

PKWARE, recently acquired by an investment group led by Novacap, a leading Canadian private equity firm, announced that V. Miller Newton has been named President and Chief Executive Officer.
“PKWARE is an amazing company with proven data management and security solutions, a marquee customer base, and a great team,” said Newton, President and Chief Executive Officer for PKWARE. “I am excited to accelerate PKWARE’s efforts to help our customers address their critical concerns regarding compliance regulations, audit requirements, protection of sensitive information, and reducing overall operation costs.”
Newton was previously Chief Executive Officer for Monster, the renowned global employment solution. He is credited with growing the company from $400,000 to $45 million in revenue and from 50 to 230 employees. Prior to being named CEO of Monster, he was Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for TMP Worldwide, a global marketing communications company and parent company of Monster (now Monster Worldwide – NYSE: MWW). Sharing sensitive data internally within an extended enterprise is a challenge in itself. Exchanging information with business partners outside of an organization’s network presents a new set of security concerns.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) realized the security risk involved with exchanging critical medical data and patient records with hundreds of non-government endpoints, including research labs, universities, and private health care providers. CMS needed a solution that would allow it to easily extend its security policies and best practices to an unlimited number of partners, protecting its personally identifiable information (PII) wherever it went, regardless of the computing platform.
Read this Gartner Case Study to learn how CMS is protecting PII and easily exchanging secure files inside and outside of their network, across multiple computing platforms.
