Summary

Company Background
Our client collects approximately $16 billion each year in state and local tax revenue and has 12 branch offices throughout the state. As a fee-based service bureau, the branch offices provide information technology (IT) services critical to the daily operation of other individual state agencies.

Challenges and Requirements
The agency required a security solution that would support varying transaction volumes and frequencies, and could address a broad range of technical capabilities that their business partners represented. Their partners varied, ranging from large financial institutions with significant IT resources to small state/local agencies with limited IT resources and technical capabilities. Due to the mixture of platforms and end-user IT expertise, it was essential that the recipient community react favorably to the agency’s security directive and adapt it into their processes.

The agency required a cost-effective solution that could take the disparate mix of partners and IT environments into account and extend a solution that would be easy to deploy and use. In addition, the solution had to address bi-directional secure transfer of data files via FTP with the flexibility to scale to multiple platforms without changing the existing infrastructure. The solution required the secure, efficient exchange of critical business information with little to no interruption at the origin or endpoint(s).

The Solution - PartnerLink
PartnerLink provided the lowest risk, highest performance, and the easiest integration and support options for the agency’s existing infrastructure. It also met the Government’s AES 256- bit encryption requirement and seamlessly integrated into existing processes with only minor programming modifications.

Being a “no cost” solution to their trading agencies furthered partner acceptance and eased the adoption process. The agency can now effectively protect the data at the file level, making it virtually impossible for anyone except authorized personnel to access, whether the data is at rest or being exchanged with partners.
