PKWARE Extends Data Security Software to Support OpenPGP

Single Vendor Solution for Multiple Security Formats

Milwaukee, WI (November 8, 2011) -  PKWARE, Inc., the industry leader in data-centric security, today announces a new version of SecureZIP software that includes OpenPGP support and other significant features for all major computing platforms.  The PKWARE SecureZIP application now supports the world’s most prevalent file security formats, ZIP and OpenPGP, making it easier for customers to share data with business partners regardless of the partners’ data security preference or computing platform.

The support of both ZIP and OpenPGP within a single application allows enterprises to standardize on PKWARE SecureZIP for all of their data security needs. The latest SecureZIP version encrypts and decrypts files using OpenPGP keys in both the ZIP and OpenPGP formats; it also allows IT Administrators to maintain enterprise control of OpenPGP files through the use of policy controls and a contingency key that ensures recoverability of encrypted data.

PKWARE SecureZIP also includes additional new features that are compliance focused. Message digest capabilities help achieve meaningful use to qualify for government Electronic Health Record (EHR) incentives. Using a unique hash code, an organization can help meet ONC meaningful use quality measures for file integrity. 

Time stamping capabilities of PKWARE SecureZIP let organizations prove that data existed in its current format at a particular point in time. This means that an organization can verify that a file signed with a certificate in the past was created with a valid certificate, regardless of the current state of that certificate.

The new version of SecureZIP for Windows Desktop, Windows Server, Linux and UNIX server is available immediately. Support of OpenPGP for SecureZIP for z/OS and for IBM i will be available first quarter of 2012.
