Reduce file transfer time and conserve storage spaceSecureZIP iSeries encryption software includes the compression capabilities of PKZIP, reducing file size by as much as 95 percent. Compression also enables organizations to decrease DASD costs, conserve transmission bandwidth, and minimize processing time to meet constrained processing windows. SecureZIP allows organizations to get the most out of their existing investments without costly hardware acquisitions or upgrades.

Encrypt data using passphrases, X.509 digital certificates, or bothSecureZIP iSeries encryption software supports both passphrase- and digital certificate-based methods of encryption, offering flexible security that meets varying requirements within business environments. Organizations using X.509 digital certificates can take advantage of SecureZIP’s secure key repository to ensure that the privacy and integrity of private keys is maintained within a shared environment. To authenticate users and maintain data integrity, digital signatures can also be applied to files to ensure that they have not been altered during transmission.

Write files directly to tapeUsing 1Step2Tape, files are written directly to tape media, bypassing the need to stage them to disk. 1Step2Tape eliminates extra processing time, enabling organizations to meet critical backup windows when adding security to their processes. SecureZIP was updated to improve accessibility of files from tape by providing a directory to the targeted files. The enhancement improves user productivity by providing a means of quickly extracting the targeted files. SecureZIP for i5/OS also includes enhanced file handling features to further accelerate critical business processes and achieve significant savings in DASD resources in the data center.

Maintain control of organization dataFiles that have been encrypted must remain accessible to the organization. When files have been encrypted with either digital certificates or passphrases, SecureZIP’s Contingency Key capabilities ensure that encrypted data is accessible.

Contingency Key processing ensures SecureZIP customers can meet the need of auditors, compliance officers, or regulators to inspect or recover encrypted data, even if a password is forgotten or a decryption key lost - while still otherwise strongly protecting the data.

Operates on all major computing platformsSecureZIP is available on all major computing platforms and supports secure data exchange between Windows® desktops, UNIX®/Linux® and Windows servers, and z/OS® mainframes. SecureZIP automatically converts data to the appropriate format based on the type of system it is being transferred to.

ZIP archives with strong data protection
Create ZIP archives that are protected with strong 3DES or AES encryption. SecureZIP encryption has been thoroughly tested and is proven to have the technical integrity required to meet regulatory requirements and current standards such as FIPS 197, the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) specification.

1Step2Tape and 1Step from Tape
Write files to tape in a single step, significantly reducing the time and effort required to write to and extract files from tape media.

File name encryption
File name encryption masks file name, file size, and other information to further protect data if it is intercepted in transit or improperly accessed.

SecureZIP supports AES or 3DES encryption to protect valuable information. Files encrypted with SecureZIP may be decrypted and extracted on major enterprise computing platforms using PKZIP or SecureZIP®

Encrypt using passphrases, x.509 digital certificates, or OpenPGP Keys
SecureZIP accommodates those who have PKI and those that don't by enabling encryption and decryption via passphrases, x.509 digital certificates and OpenPGP Keys depending on the access requirements of each intended recipient. Recipients can then decrypt files by presenting the correct passphrase or private key.

SecureZIP supports X.509 RSA® v3 certificates issued from recognized certificate authorities such as Comodo®, VeriSign®, Entrust®, and Microsoft®.

Contingency key access to protected files
Improperly used encryption can effectively lock an organization out of its own data. SecureZIP ensures organizations are always able to quickly and easily access documents encrypted by their employees.

Digital signatures to verify documents have not been altered
SecureZIP enables users to sign files with their unique digital certificates. Recipients of signed files can validate the signature to ensure the sender is who he or she claims to be, and verify that the document has not been altered or tampered with since it was signed. In addition, digital signatures offer non-repudiation — in other words, the signer cannot later claim that the signature is not valid.

Secure private key store
SecureZIP includes a secure private key store that is compliant with the iSeries access control system. The private key store ensures that access to encrypted files and digital signing are managed with appropriate controls.

Automatic access to public keys in directories
SecureZIP offers an optional interface that integrates with Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) compliant directories, such as Sun® iPlanet, Novell® NetWare®, and Microsoft® Active Directory®. LDAP integration makes it easy to locate, retrieve, and apply the public keys for certificate-based encryption.
