Maintenance Release 7

This maintenance release is available for all users of PKZIP Server and SecureZIP Server 8. It provides the following product enhancements and fixes:

Product Enhancements:

SecureZIP

  • FIPS 140 support has been added which ensures that SecureZIP will use FIPS 140 validated cryptographic modules for creating secure archives
  • Added support for stronger hashing algorithms; SHA 256, SHA 384 and SHA 512

PKZIP

  • Added support for decrypting FIPS 140 based secure archives
  • Added support for decrypting stronger hashing algorithms; SHA 256, SHA 384 and SHA 512

PKZIP and SecureZIP Fixes:

  • 3276 - Corrected a problem with file names having trademark (TM) or copyright (c) symbols in the file name.
  • 3936 - Corrected a problem with embedded archive files in a ZIP file where interim archive file was deleted when extracting.
  • 4159 - Corrected a line wrapping problem when displaying machine information.
  • 4517 - Corrected display of permission and mask values when extracting files from a PKSFX Self-Extracting File.
  • 4778 - Corrected a problem where the program will not run on AIX 5.1 and reports an fd_select error.
  • 4815 - Improved processing on UNIX/Linux when using pipe files.
  • 5745 - Revised program Help documentation to correct size values identified for use with the -span option.
  • 5848 - Corrected a problem when re-installing the software which may result in an evaluation key being installed on a machine.
  • 5871 - Improved formatting of log reports.
  • 5947 - Resolved a problem where an additional prompt to enter a password may appear when encrypting using a contingency key.
  • 5948 - Corrected a problem with an abnormal program termination occurring when a corrupt policy file is used.
  • 6154 - Improved memory allocation processes.
  • 6217 - Corrected a problem when using the -optionchar command that prevented reading archives from stdin and writing archives to stdout.
