Miller Newton leads PKWARE with his combination of experience in growing technology fields and a background in managing companies to healthy revenue returns. As CEO and President of PKWARE, Newton has provided national expertise on business data protection in interviews on MSNBC, Bloomberg TV, CNBC, CNN and MarketWatch.
Prior to coming to PKWARE in 2009, Newton was Chief Executive Officer of Netkey for six years. Netkey, a leading provider of applications and management software for self-service kiosks and digital signage, was acquired by NCR (NYSE: NCR).
Previous to heading Netkey, Newton was Chairman and CEO for Boston-based Lavastorm Technologies (now Martin Dawes Analytics) from 1999-2003, an international data analytics software company focused on improving business performance.
Before Lavastorm, he was named Chief Executive Officer for Monster, the renowned global employment solution, from 1997- 99. He is credited with growing the company from $400,000 to $45 million in revenue and from 50 to 230 employees.
Prior to Monster, Newton was Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for TMP Worldwide, a global marketing communications company and parent company of Monster (now Monster Worldwide; NYSE: MWW) from 1986-1999. Newton was instrumental in taking TMP Worldwide public in 1996.
Newton attended the University of South Florida where he majored in marketing and management.
Rick has over 20 years of channel and business development experience. Most recently Rick was a consultant at Gerson Lehrman Group. Prior to that Rick worked for Symantec as Senior Director of US Channels and ran its Enterprise OEM business. His responsibilities included creation and execution of the commercial channel business plan with national and regional partners who sell Symantec’s information protection solutions.
Rick also held various product management and business development positions with OnTechnology, Cyclone Commerce, Plasmon IDE and J.River, Inc. Early in his career he spent four years working in Japan.
Rick is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and lives in Jersey City, New Jersey with his wife and two children.
Timothy Kohler was formerly with KPMG, both in U.S. and International offices, where he worked in Assurance Services. His responsibilities included corporate audits, consulting services, and working as a national instructor for the firm.
Mr. Kohler graduated from Marquette University with a BS in Business Administration.
Matt is a technologist at heart with more than a decade of experience in the IT industry. In his role as VP of Product Development, Matt oversees planning, development and lifecycle management for next generation PKWARE offerings, including Viivo. Matt also plays a critical role in setting and driving product strategy and go-to-market activities for these products.
Prior to his current role, Matt held jobs as MIS/IT Director and IT Manager for PKWARE. He has also worked for Compuware and Johnson Controls. Matt graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
Tammy McCormack has 20 years of leadership experience with various companies in the human resources field including Target Stores, ProStaff, Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, and Fidelity National Information Services.
Ms. McCormack has an MA from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
Jim Peterson has been developing commercial software products for over 20 years. Since joining PKWARE in 1994, he has held various leadership roles in product development. He continues to drive the evolution of .ZIP technology, focusing on ensuring the ZIP format remains a secure and interoperable standard.
Prior to joining PKWARE, Mr. Peterson held engineering roles at several companies where he was responsible for designing and developing healthcare management, warehouse automation, and financial accounting applications.
Joe Sturonas, a 25-year veteran of the commercial software industry, is responsible for product development at PKWARE, including software engineering, documentation, quality assurance and technical support. Joe has exuberantly worked with companies and government entities on overcoming the biggest organizational challenge of our time: protecting information. At nine of the top 10 global banks and with 200 government agencies, Joe has helped find extensive solutions when it comes to encryption, compliance, data security and data center optimization.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Miami University and a Master’s of Science degree in computer science from DePaul University.

Marc Beauchamp has more than 32 years of experience in the private equity and venture capital industry.
After obtaining his MBA at Columbia University in New York, Mr. Beauchamp held various positions in investment banking, turning around troubled companies and operating Westhill Industries, a company in the auto part distribution industry. The latter did an IPO and the company was successfully acquired. In 1980, he joined Innocan, a leading venture capital fund. Mr. Beauchamp founded Novacap in 1981.
Mr. Beauchamp was awarded the title of Builder of the Year in 1995 by the Commerce magazine. He was also named Outstanding Entrepreneur by Les Nouveaux Performants.
Mr. Beauchamp is president of Novacap Investissements and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Novacap. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Technomedia and PKWare.
Tom is a founding partner of Maranon Capital and has over 31 years of experience in leveraged lending, private equity and corporate restructuring. Prior to founding Maranon, Tom was at American Capital Strategies, Ltd., Catalyst Equity Partners, LLC, Heller Financial, Inc., and Citicorp North America, Inc.
Tom earned an M.B.A. with honors from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University and a B.S.B.A. summa cum laude from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
David Lewin received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in public accountancy from HEC Montréal, where he graduated with Great Distinction. Mr. Lewin also earned an MBA from McGill University, where he graduated on the Dean’s Honour List.
Since joining Novacap in 2011, Mr. Lewin has been involved in the execution of the Firm’s investments in a number of TMT and industrial companies. Prior to joining Novacap, Mr. Lewin was a Manager at PSP Investments in Montreal where he was involved in the evaluation and execution of private equity transactions. Prior to that, Mr. Lewin worked in investment banking at National Bank Financial Markets, where he focused on TMT as well as diversified clients.
Mr. Lewin serves as an observer on the Board of Directors of Chemical Computing Group, PKWare, Technomedia, and previously did so on the Board of Directors of ViXS Systems.
Pascal Tremblay has been involved in funding, managing and developing technology companies for over 18 years. Mr. Tremblay holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of Sherbrooke and an MBA from McGill University.
Prior to joining Novacap, Mr. Tremblay was a Partner at Argo Global Capital, a venture capital firm where he participated in numerous investments in technology and telecommunications companies in North America, Europe and Asia. His prior experience also includes working in the private equity division at CDP Capital (Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec), one of Canada’s largest fund managers and private equity investors. Prior to entering the private equity field, Mr. Tremblay was Founder and CEO of Laserpro, an award winning manufacturing and distribution company of printing and computer equipment.
Mr. Tremblay is a member of the Board of Directors of Stingray Digital, PKWare and « Canada’s Venture Capital & Private Equity Association ». Mr. Tremblay was Chairman of the Board of Ryma Technologies Solutions, LiquidxStream Systems and Creaform. He was also a member of the Board of Tenrox, VIXS, OnMobile, Soltima, Digital Bridges, Kabira and Webraska.
