Your browser identified itself as a version of IE that was often shipped with default settings that were less than secure. Your internet experience could be made more secure by opening Internet Options in your browser, going to the Advanced tab and looking under the security settings for "Use TLS 1.1" and "Use TLS 1.2". Ensure these are turned on (checked). Doing so will enable your browser to support a higher quality of encryption on this and other websites. You will still be able to browse this site without turning on support for TLS 1.1 and 1.2, but we will have to use a lower level of encryption to accomodate you. See this question on Stack Exchange's Superuser forum from 2011 for more details keeping in mind the comments about TLS 1.2 non-support were made many years ago, and things have changed since then.

If the support for better cryptography has been turned on for your browser, thank you, and you can safely ignore this advisory.

Smartcrypt Data Classification

Smartcrypt Data Classification

Enhance data control and increase user awareness

Data classification is an essential component of enterprise data protection, allowing administrators and end users to identify files and messages that contain sensitive information. However, most classification products provide limited capabilities, requiring organizations to manage two or three separate solutions in order to locate, tag, and protect sensitive files.

PKWARE’s Smartcrypt is the only data security platform that includes data classification in an automated workflow with data discovery and protection. It’s the simplest, most efficient way for organizations to secure their sensitive information against loss, theft, or misuse.

Put the human element on your side

Human error is to blame for a large percentage of security breaches. Heavy workloads, new technology, and insufficient training can lead employees to violate data security policies unintentionally. Data classification keeps employees engaged in the data protection process by increasing user awareness and empowering users to take action when files require special handling.

Visual labels on classified files help employees maintain awareness of the organization’s data protection policies and the need to handle data appropriately. Smartcrypt’s email classification feature facilitates manual or automatic tagging of Outlook messages, extending the organization’s data protection policies to partners, vendors, or other parties who receive sensitive information.

While other classification products can create a false sense of security by tagging files but leaving them otherwise unprotected, Smartcrypt applies policy-based protection as soon as sensitive data is discovered and classified. Protected data remains safe from unauthorized use, even when it is shared or copied outside the company network.

How it works

Smartcrypt scans new or modified files for sensitive information as defined by the organization. When sensitive data is detected, Smartcrypt initiates classification tagging and applies encryption, masking, or other protective measures based on the organization’s security policies. Classified files contain visual tags that alert users to the sensitivity of the data, as well as metadata tags that facilitate action by DLP scanners and other security technology.

Smartcrypt also allows end users to apply manual classification to files that require protection even though they do not fit the organization’s definition of sensitive data. After manual classification, Smartcrypt will automatically apply the appropriate form of protection to the tagged file.

Deployment

Data classification is performed by software agents installed on file servers, network-attached storage, and endpoint devices such as desktop and laptop computers. Enterprise deployment options are available.

After the Smartcrypt agent is installed, administrators can configure classification settings for users, groups, and network locations.

Management

Administrators use the Smartcrypt Enterprise Manager to define and apply the organization’s data discovery, classification, and remediation policies. Policies can include detailed rules and security workflows for different user groups, locations, and forms of sensitive data.

Administrators can use Smartcrypt’s Data Security Intelligence tools to monitor data protection activity and provide reports for audit and compliance purposes.

End User Experience

Smartcrypt’s integrated approach to data classification enables automatic policy-based tagging for files that contain sensitive data on user devices.

Benefits

Smartcrypt data classification delivers a wide range of benefits, making your organization's sensitive data more secure and easier to manage.
  • Eliminates the need for separate discovery, classification, and data protection products
  • Finds, classifies, and protects data on the network and at the endpoint
  • Simplifies user workflows
  • Enables organization-wide control
