Your browser identified itself as a version of IE that was often shipped with default settings that were less than secure. Your internet experience could be made more secure by opening Internet Options in your browser, going to the Advanced tab and looking under the security settings for "Use TLS 1.1" and "Use TLS 1.2". Ensure these are turned on (checked). Doing so will enable your browser to support a higher quality of encryption on this and other websites. You will still be able to browse this site without turning on support for TLS 1.1 and 1.2, but we will have to use a lower level of encryption to accomodate you. See this question on Stack Exchange's Superuser forum from 2011 for more details keeping in mind the comments about TLS 1.2 non-support were made many years ago, and things have changed since then.

If the support for better cryptography has been turned on for your browser, thank you, and you can safely ignore this advisory.

Compression Software for Linux on z System

In an effort to control costs, reduce complexity, and benefit from the high availability & serviceability of the mainframe, many businesses are placing workloads on Linux on z System. PKZIP for Linux on z System compresses files for Linux on the mainframe, whether Linux installs directly on a LPAR or runs under z/VM. Moreover, PKZIP for Linux on z System does this using proven ZIP technology, guaranteeing interoperability by efficiently moving data across boundaries, including operating systems, geographic locations, and enterprise perimeters.

Enterprise Edition

  • Self-extracting ZIP archives: Create Self-Extracting ZIP Archives that others can open on Windows desktops without installing additional software
  • Integrates with FTP & SMTP: Provides automated delivery of files (distributes files automatically from servers to desktops)
  • Control storage costs and ease network congestion: Compresses files up to 95%, conserving bandwidth and storage space, including on backup tapes
  • Improve resource productivity: Improve productivity of system resources by streaming data directly to and/or from applications without staging it to disk
  • Protect data from internal theft and unintended recipients: Strong Passphrase-based File Protection through support of both AES and 3DES encryption protects valuable information
  • A single solution for small, medium and large businesses: Compress, encrypt and send files or groups of files across all major enterprise computing platforms; including Windows desktops, Windows and UNIX/Linux servers, IBM i, and IBM zSeries
  • Error reporting for attended & unattended operations : Reports errors through integration of SNMP (Simplified Network Message Protocol) with leading data center management applications

Standard Edition

  • Error reporting for attended & unattended operations: Reports errors through integration of SNMP (Simplified Network Message Protocol) with leading data center management applications

How it Works: Application Integration

With Application Integration, data can be streamed directly in and out of applications. Without Application Integration, the ZIP file would be extracted and written to disk as a data file before it can be read by an application. Using Application Integration, this step is eliminated, improving operational efficiency by reducing the number of steps needed to process data.
